Headwaters Music and Arts to Host Rock Band Program – Bemidji Pioneer

BEMIDJI – Headwaters Music and Arts will kick off the fall with its Grade One Rock Band program for young musicians.

An extension of Headwaters’ highly successful Rock Band Boot Camp held this summer, the program is a band performance course for musicians aged 10-16.

Held seasonally with three blocks of six classes to choose from, participants will meet on alternate Sundays from 1-3:30 p.m. at Headwaters (519 MN Ave NW, Bemidji).

The fall block will begin on October 2 and end on December 11 with a final rock show for family and friends scheduled for Saturday December 16.

Led by local musicians Lisa Dixon and Casey Rasmussen, the course will cover everything from chord progressions, counting bars and song sections to exactly how gig musicians communicate and come to life with their bandmates in a live setting.

“This will be a fun and exciting chance for budding artists to learn the basics of rock and pop music,” the statement read.

Headwaters has a limited number of instruments and amplifiers available to participants and will provide keyboards and drums. However, for all other equipment, participants should contact Headwaters to make arrangements prior to class if they do not have their own.

The cost to attend is $180 per participant with limited financial assistance available. As the number of places is limited, prior registration is required.
