Music is something that many people find a passion for in their youth. As many age, the dream slowly fades. However, there are those whose dream never dies, and a certain force constantly pushes them in the direction of their passion. For Meikhel Philogene, a first-generation Cuban-Haitian American, this was the case. While still in school, Meikhel founded MEI Recordings in September 2017. In October 2017, the company signed its first talent, Cameron Dietz.

MEI (“Music. Entertainment. Imagination.”) Recordings is headquartered in Miami, Florida, and started out as a management company, but quickly grew into so much more. In 2020, MEI Recordings expanded by adding a PR division. Today, MEI Recordings PR clients include $DVLLV$, A Beck, CimplyDan, Donnie Visa, James Qupid, Lada Beseda, Laudz, Marlounsly, Maya, Naomi Sky, Nia Ray, Noah Singer, Soleil and Sylvia Bremer . The company’s management division still consists of Cameron Dietz, but also includes singer-songwriter alter ego The Singslayer. The company is very proud of the diversity it has through the representation of different musical genres, races, genders, etc. Meikhel and MEI Recordings are advocates for change and stand for diversity.

MEI Recordings has made great strides in the music industry in a short time. MEI Recordings has helped artists proliferate and garner the attention of countless major media outlets including but not limited to Rolling Stone, Fox Soul, Popjustice, Hip Hop Weekly, Consequence, Earmilk, Flaunt, MTV, Highsnobiety and Uproxx. Artists have garnered millions of streams and views. Their music is in rotation on Roku. They have opened bands such as Ella Mai, HER and Summer Walker at major music festivals and tours. The artists have also caught the eye and received praise from various notable artists and personalities such as Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, Layton Greene, Dennis Rodman, Marlon Wayans, Jay Pharoah, and Ken Jeong.

Last year in October, Cameron Dietz released a song, “Old Soul,” featuring multi-platinum hip-hop legend The Game. This year, MEI Recordings expanded further by adding a label division. Ike Rhein released a song and music video, “Messed It Up”, with platinum artist Luh Kel in January 2022 in partnership with label MEI Recordings. The music video for “Messed It Up” has since racked up around a million views. MEI Recordings has other major collaborations planned for 2022 and beyond.

MEI The history of recordings is not over. The company plans to continue its expansion by adding a synchronization licensing and music publishing division later this year. Additionally, MEI Recordings is working on adding video production divisions and talent agencies with the hope of launching them in the first or second quarter of 2023.

Founder and CEO Meikhel wants the “MEI” brand to become a global conglomerate. He is determined to get involved with an artist who is nominated and/or wins a Grammy. MEI Recordings is currently looking for more talent to strengthen its record label and management teams. Let MEI help YOU.
