South Bend Family Trio Girl Named Tom Wins “Battle” on “The Voice”


The siblings of South Bend Girl Named Tom once again amazed the famous judges of “The Voice” with their harmonies, earning a victory that propels them to the next round of the televised singing contest.

Music star Kelly clarkson, the group’s team coach, chose Girl Named Tom as the winner of the “battle” round and praised their singing.

In a performance that aired Monday night on NBC, the Liechtenstein family trio sang the Eagles’ “Seven Bridges Road”, with a country twist, alongside their opponent, solo artist Kinsey Rose.

The performers received a standing ovation from Clarkson and other famous coaches.

In the battle round of “The Voice”, artists from the same team perform a song together, with their coach choosing a winner to move on to the next round.

“I chose Girl Named Tom because this family harmony is so amazing and so close,” Clarkson said on the show. “There is just something special about it.”

The acoustic pop trio includes Caleb, 26, Joshua, 24, and their sister, Bekah, 20.

“It was the most fun we have ever had on a stage !!!” the group tweeted after the show aired on Monday night.

The siblings are from Pettisville, Ohio, but they moved to South Bend last year because Joshua’s girlfriend is a medical student at Indiana University in South Bend. Other local link: Caleb and Joshua both graduated from Goshen College.

Girl Named Tom has released three albums independently, posted multiple videos on YouTube, and toured nationally.

Regarding the group’s unusual name, the brothers said they called Bekah “Thomas” when she was a baby because they were hoping for a younger brother at the time.

“The Voice” airs at 8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.
