2022. What year, huh? After the pandemic-induced chaos of recent times, things thankfully seem to be more balanced, at least musically.
The first six months of 2022 have certainly seen a bunch of bands drop hit records. From big names to returning heroes to rising stars of tomorrow, it’s been an embarrassment of riches.
But what was the best album of the year so far? Difficult question, that’s why we decided to throw it to you. And you literally voted in the thousands.
Now that the results are in and…we think you might be a little surprised. Flagship releases from Ghost, Rammstein, Korn and Meshuggah unsurprisingly made the Top 10, as did curve balls from Zeal & Ardor and psy-doomsters MWWB (go North Wales!).
But they were all beaten by a sizable margin by an album that got more votes than the rest of the top 10 combined. And what is the record that is greater than Impera, Time and Saxon Carpe Diem?
We can officially announce that the best album of 2022 as voted by you is…

Of course, like Bon Jovi, we’re only halfway there. There are still six months left in 2022, and we still have high profile releases from Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Five Finger Death Punch, Amon Amarth and countless more to come.
Until then, discover below the entire Top 10 metal albums of 2022 according to you.
