GLEN ROSE – The Glen Rose Tiger Pride Band is moving forward.
At the UIL Region 30 Marching Contest last Saturday in Springtown, the Tiger Pride Band received Division Ones and are now moving on to the UIL Region D Marching Contest on October 30 in Pflugerville.
“Every time the announcement was made that the band was awarded a Division One, the students were very excited,” said Avril Tovar, Glen Rose’s junior drum major. “Everyone expressed their emotions by congratulating each other. The energy was very present even before we arrived on the ground. You could feel the rush to play. The audience seemed to be really involved in the show, as if they were watching a parade. “
The Tiger Pride Band will be competing with more than 28 bands the night before Halloween for a spot in the UIL State Marching Contest in November.
“The group has had one of their best performances of the season,” Glen Rose group manager Ray Portillo said of Saturday’s competition. “I felt the students entered the competition focused and determined to perform the show to the best of their ability. The band provided great energy throughout their performance.
The band’s show this year is called “Carry On” and features music by My Chemical Romance, Charlie Puth and Camille Saint-Saëns.
The theme is a young boy’s journey to a parade with his father and the time spent with one person and the impact it makes.
