Logan City Council announced a new community project to celebrate and strengthen the area’s live music scene.
Supported by a host of industry experts, the city’s first music action plan will seek to identify partnership opportunities with local venues, artists and businesses to unify the region’s music community and support the scene as a whole.
A multitude of workshops, a local industry forum and one-on-one meetings with artists, places and industry professionals are also scheduled.
The Music Action Plan will be led by Beenleigh-born artist and writer Craig Spann, who will act as a consultant to Logan City Council and help manage the community program.
The plan is being launched alongside two online surveys designed by Spann, which seek to capture the experience of local music industry workers and artists during the pandemic.
Logan City President’s Advisor Laurie Koranski said the music action plan will reach out to all ages and help rebuild the region’s music scene.
âLogan City Council has been hosting our Logan Live Music Celebration since 2018 to nurture and promote local talent. We are proud to support new and emerging talent, âKoranski said.
âThere have been blockages, restrictions on site capacity and border controls limiting rounds. The Council wishes to help the industry, especially in the town of Logan, find new avenues. We need the support of the community and want to hear their thoughts. “
